Greg McNally

The company’s Managing Partner, Greg McNally, has close to 25 years of experience advising on VAT and Indirect Taxes, working in the professional practice with two “Big 4” firms, and also a leading mid-tier National firm where he latterly operated as a specialist VAT Partner, before founding VITA in 2019.

Greg has particular expertise in advising on the liability of income, partial exemption and other VAT restrictions and on land and property transactions.  He has a deep specialism working with charities, public sector as well as advising on complex commercial areas including land & property and international transactions. 

Recently Greg has worked with:

  • A number of Community Development Trusts, assisting them to understand the complex nature of VAT and mitigating the cost of irrecoverable VAT on community property projects.
  • A public sector body, taking over from a Big4 firm to successfully settle a multi-£m dispute that had been ongoing for several years.
  • A business associated with the insurance sector, reviewing the income streams and identifying an exemption, and negotiating a significant refund from HMRC.
  • A business operating in the food sector, negotiating with HMRC over the application of the zero-rating to a new product.
  • A number of charities in the culture and arts sector, advising on the application of the exemption and the impact on capital developments.

Throughout his career, Greg has navigated the complicated VAT system finding solutions, and interpreting the tax into plain English for his clients.
