Meet Your CBAM Team

This week’s big news from Europe is clear: CBAM is here, it’s here to stay, and no adjustments are planned in the immediate term.

Since going live in January, several countries and industries have pushed for changes - even calling for delays or suspension - as they grapple with the operational challenges of adapting to the EU’s new Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

But this week, Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth, confirmed unequivocally that such changes are not on the table. He reinforced the strategic purpose of CBAM, stating:
“CBAM offers us an opportunity to make a business case for affordable, green and made in Europe fertilisers. This is win-win for European farmers and industry alike, as it aligns with and supports Europe’s goals of climate, competitiveness and independence.”

It’s an important signal.
And the challenges we’re seeing across the EU, from data readiness to supplier engagement, are exactly the kinds of issues UK businesses should expect when the UK’s own CBAM goes live next January.

At VITA, our team brings together the specialist skills needed to help organisations navigate this new regulatory frontier with confidence.
