Proposed reduction in Irish VAT

There's some interesting developments in Ireland, as the government consider reducing the VAT rate for hospitality services to 9% (a 14% reduction).

Reports suggest this will reduce their VAT take by €1bn per annum - but there's more to it of course.

Their intention is the boost to the economy leading to more spending, more tourism and more employment.

I'm personally really pleased to see this and am hoping that the UK Government's watching...

The UK hospitality sector has long petitioned the use of a lower VAT rate, and I'm a big advocate of this approach.

What's your opinion, and what rate would you like to see?
